Reindeer calving day trip1

a once in a life time experience - reindeer calving

dAY TRIP MAY - JUNE

Wecome to this unique adventure and to our calving reindeer herd. We start the day with a snow mobile trip through a beautiful landscape to our herd, a 10 minutes long ride. When we arrive, you can sit on a reindeer skin outside, and relax and enjoy fully the moment, and after a while you can joine us around the bonfire, where we will tell you everything we know about reindeer calving. We will serve you Buljong and fresh coffee brewed traditionally on an open fire, and you will even get to taste dried reindeer meat. During this adventure you will also get the opportunity to feed the reindeer with your own feeding sledge.

This trip to our calving area is a very special and unique trip. You will get to see the reindeer herd close up, and if you are lucky, you might even see reindeer giving birth. You will learn alot about our traditions and culture - and this sure is - a once in a life time experience.

During 10th of may – 10th of june 2020 we herd the female reindeers 24/7 while they are giving birth to reindeer calfs, to prevent attacks from predatures like eagles, bears, wolverines, lynx and even crows.
