about us

We are Per Ailu and Sire Márjá, with our two children Emma Márjá and Juhán Ailu, and Malin and Bjørn Petter. Bjørn Petter is the nephew of Per Ailu, and the two belong to the same siida, both in the winter and summer months.

We are two reindeer herding families from Karasjok, Finnmark, Norway. We want to show you how we live in harmony with nature and its resources. Reindeer herding is our livelihood, our culture and our identity. Through our tours you will learn more about us and our culture.

We run Áldu AS together, a tourism operator in the reindeer herding husboundry. We will also have reindeer products for sale, as reindeer skin and reindeer antlers. Visit our net shop here.

Áldu

“Áldu” is the female name of the reindeer with a calf in Sami language, and she is the reason why we can work with these beautiful animals. Áldu also represents new life and she is the "mother" of our adventures, where we offer trips to the reindeer calving area.

We offer natural and authentic tours, and you can join us on the terms of nature and reindeer. We follow nature and animals in all seasons, for good and for bad. Some of our tours may be moved or postponed, as we can never insure against the laws of nature. We will of course notify you of any changes or cancellations as early as possible.

We are now preparing for this season, and alot of fun work is ahead us. We hope you will come and visit us here in Karasjok. We are very excited and looking forward to meet new friends who wants to see our way of living. You will learn more about us and our culture when visiting us.

Several trips are planned and will be in the autumn and winter season 2021-2022.
